The major magazines all seem to take forever to let you know if they want the piece. When I could have sold it to several regionals in that same amount of time.Carol J. For instance, several national magazines in India pay 50 cents a word (or more) for first-rights and minimal edits. I would also add that it is much easier to develop strong relationships with your regional editors, because you are more likely to see them...that face-to-face contact is very valuable. There is something fun about seeing your name in a high profile mag, (I admit, it's something I yearn for!), but at the same time, when it comes to $ vs. effort, the local publications can be much more rewarding.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
